Jessica Larva abu simbel digital prints tracing lines

Abu Simbel2009
Set of six unframed 17-inch by 22-inch digital prints nailed directly onto the wall in a horizontal line

A trip through an Egyptian desert triggered my interest in lines and infrastructure. The rolling expanse of sand seemed almost entirely empty and ancient except that massive electric pylons punctuated the view and a band of wires was continuously present throughout the trip. I was intrigued by the duality between the seemingly timeless and barren natural landscape outside my window and the modern power lines that held inside them so much energy.
