I donŐt have a concept!
I only have school assignments!
What
to do if you donŐt think you have a concept for your artwork.
1) Give yourself a break. You have more to your work
than you think.
2) Look at your past work and reflect on where you
see it going. What has interested you? Do you see reoccurring subject matter,
themes, motifs, media, etc? How have you approached
your work? This study is for reference and does not have to dictate your
future.
3) Determine where you want your work to go in the
future.
4) Write your statement with your future work in
mind.
5) Now begin to research and make work that intentionally
addresses your stated objective.
6) In the near future you will revise your statement
to reflect your new work.
