syllabus — ART 395 — Digital Art

395 Assignments
(and options to customize)

ART 395 Digital Art and ART 227 Digital Art share the same assignment prompts and submission guidelines. However, the difference between the courses is that students in ART 395 are expected to demonstrate a higher level of intellectual rigor in their concepts and exhibit more advanced development of their concepts and/or aesthetic in their work.

See full assignment prompts and submission guidelines linked here.

Custom Course of Study Option

Students in ART 395 may also propose an alternative “course of study” with customized assignments (customized topic/subject matter and use of media) that address individual artistic interests and result in high quality portfolio work. This customized “course of study” would need to be ambitious and still need to adhere to the course model including: turning in a written proposal, submitting work for critique, submitting work on D2L in instructor-approved formats, and participating in critiques on the dates scheduled for the class. However, the topic/subject matter and use of medias can be more flexible if students propose their own “course of study” assignment(s).

You may customize one or all of your class assignments as long as the “course of study” is agreed to before you begin working on the corresponding assignment.

I am available to meet in person or via zoom to help develop a brief description of your “course of study” assignment(s).

Please send me an email at jlarva@depaul.edu with your “course of study” assignment topics/medias so I can officially reject, modify, or agree to your proposed “course of study”.
